Happy Halloween! Backstage at the Aftershock festival last weekend up in Sacramento, all four members of Eagles of Death Metal got on the mic and into the Halloween groove for the latest AQ Podcast. They’d just come offstage after a killer set featuring a surprise cameo from Mastodon’s Brent Hinds, and adrenaline was high.
Frontman Jesse Hughes explains why “this is the first time I feel like we’re a band instead of just a lineup, to make up for the absence of some big-ass red headed motherfucker,” referring of course to EODM co-founder Joshua Homme. Then we dig into guitarist Dave Catching’s legacy at the beloved Rancho De La Luna, bassist Jenny Vee’s crotch kicks for equality, and drummer Jorma Vik’s ginger-tinged tale of joining the band following a mariachi-infused hardcore journey with The Bronx.
As for what’s coming in 2018? “Imagine John Holmes but with a much bigger dick, being jammed into your earholes on the body of George Clinton, with Keith Richards and Chuck Berry as the balls, slapping on your taint.”
