Another Friday here in the San Fernando Valley which means it is time for yet another exciting edition of the Bootleg Roundup. This week we bring you fan shot videos featuring bands that made one of the 25 best albums of 2012.
We start our world tour in the United Kingdom. That’s where The Hives currently are in support of the #8 album of the year Lex Hives. I will be honest, this is a band that I simply don’t understand the appeal of, yet they appear to be doing something right as they are loved around the world. Enjoy this performance of the song Wait A Minute.
Next we are off to Oakland California where the long running modern rock radio outfit Live 105 held their annual Not So Silent Night holiday bash this past weekend. With their gear stuck in Miami, Emily and James of Metric performed a stripped down set inside the home of the Golden State Warriors. From our #17 album of the year, check out Youth Without Youth.
From Oakland to Virginia we go to check in with Billy Corgan. As you are probably well aware, Corgan and his current incarnation of Smashing Pumpkins have been performing our #10 album of the year Oceania from front to back each night. Over the two below videos, you can watch the entire performance of Oceania, as well as some of your favorites from the Pumpkins massive back catalog.
Tel Aviv may be the most exotic location the Bootleg Roundup has shared a video from yet. That’s where Mark Lanegan was promoting our #9 album Blues Funeral earlier this week. While the stage lighting may leave a lot to be desired, don’t let it distract you from enjoying this awesome performance of The Gravedigger’s Song.
Finally we wrap our world tour of artists featured in our top 25 albums of 2012 right here in the San Fernando Valley. That’s where the creator of our second favorite album of the year was this past Sunday night. Jack White headlined night two of the 2012 KROQ Almost Acoustic Christmas up at Universal Studios. You can watch Freedom at 21 shot by our pal Brian down below.
With most artists now off the road to spend a few days with their loved ones, tune into next week’s Roundup for a special self-indulgent look back at 2012.
