Alain Johannes has a story that’s long overdue for the telling, and the time is finally near. The man whose signature is imprinted on the sounds of legends such as Queens of The Stone Age, Chris Cornell, Brody Dalle, PJ Harvey and Mark Lanegan, to name just a few, is getting the film treatment with Unfinished Plan: The Path of Alain Johannes.
The upcoming documentary by Rodolfo Gárate is narrated by musical heavyweights such as Chris Cornell, Josh Homme, Alex Turner and others, and features interviews with key players in Alain’s journey, according to the trailer notes. The 95 minute film documents Alain’s musical trajectory, tragically punctuated when Natasha Shneider, his wife and musical partner in the band Eleven, passed in 2008.
“The existential void her loss left in him pushed him towards a sound journey that takes him back to his country of origin after 45 years,” the description reads. “This is a story of love and resilience, where Alain has had to overcome the pain to be able to keep on playing, singing and living.”
We’ve loved Alain for much longer than Antiquiet has existed, and we were honored to spend time at his house for a special AQ Session – the same place where Cornell’s Euphoria Morning was recorded, among many others. This film looks to be a worthy watch for any rock fan, though there’s no concrete release date as of publishing.
