Antiquiet will be co-sponsoring a Rock For Justice benefit concert next week in Los Angeles, featuring Free Moral Agents, Raashan Ahmad and Castledoor. It’s all going down Thursday, May 14th at Enjoy Human. Join us!
Rock For Justice is out to raise awareness (and money) to help complete a compelling documentary entitled Give A Damn, centering on two guys who try to live on a dollar a day in Africa. We’re out to help make the event worth your $10 by bringing in some of our favorite artists to help make it a night to remember.
Headlining the event will be Free Moral Agents, the brainchild of Isaiah “Ikey” Owens, Grammy Award-winning keyboardist for The Mars Volta & De Facto.
Also performing will be Crown City Rockers MC Raashan Ahmad, one of our favorite artists. As Johnny said last year:
“There is a nearly-untapped world of quality hip-hop in the ‘underground,’ a place where assertive, socially conscious rhymes meet diverse musical influence. It’s a place that deserves a hell of a lot more attention than it gets.Crown City Rockers are among the best and brightest of today’s hip-hop scene, bringing a melting pot of soul, funk-laced grooves and old-school inflected rhymes to the table.”
Raashan’s making the trip down from the Bay Area to show his support for this great cause.
The Give A Damn documentary follows an idealist activist who convinces his friend- who doesn’t give a damn about the poor- to join him on a trip to Africa, where the duo attempts to live on a dollar a day. The project is in the midst of getting a final push for funds to finish the film and get it out there:
Help us spread the word!
Rock For Justice is a non-profit which works to combine music, art, and social injustices into events that can make people more aware of the struggles and situations that are affecting them- happening in their own backyards, and elsewhere in the world.
