Just on the heels of announcing his own wrestling league, Billy Corgan and his Smashing Pumpkins have just provided the details for the reissues of their first two albums: 1991’s Gish and 1993’s Siamese Dream.
Considered by many to be among the most groundbreaking records of the early 90’s, both Gish and Siamese Dream were remastered from the original master tapes by Bob Ludwig, and are set to come in deluxe 2CD/DVD editions – besides the standalone CD, vinyl and digital versions. Both deluxe editions come in a special lift-top box packaging, also including never-before-seen photos, liner notes and track-by-track commentary by Billy Corgan. The DVDs include live recordings from the band’s hometown of Chicago, at the Metro, where they also performed their “last ever gig” several years later.
The tracklistings for both deluxe editions can be found here.
Both releases will be available on November 29. It’s fitting, given that the band has recently resurrected a bunch of these songs in their live incarnations. Their upcoming record Oceania will likely see a release in early 2012.
