We’ve been losing our shit with an odd mix of disbelief and excitement over the fact that a reunited Refused will be playing Coachella in just a few weeks, and tonight the band gave Sweden (and through tech proxy the world) a taste of what’s to come.
The first Refused show in 14 years took place in secret on Wednesday in Umeå, Sweden, and we have video evidence.
Check out a fan recording of Everlasting from the show:
Refused released three full-length albums before calling it quits in 1998. Though insisting for time untold that they would never reunite, the band has confirmed a number of shows in 2012, including an appearance at this year’s Coachella Valley Music & Arts Festival, to be held for the first time over two consecutive weeks in mid-April.
The members of Refused released a statement in January explaining their decision to reunite by saying, “We never did ‘The Shape Of Punk To Come’ justice back when it came out; too tangled up in petty internal bickering to really focus on the job. And suddenly there’s this possibility to do it like it was intended. We wanna do it over, do it right. For the people who’ve kept the music alive through the years, but also for our own sakes. We feel that you deserve it and we hope the feeling is mutual.”
Thanks to Blabbermouth for the heads up!
