Listen to the New Rush Track ‘Headlong Flight’

Rush, Music

For nearly 40 years the trio of Geddy Lee, Alex Lifeson and Neil Peart has been kicking out complex prog rock masterpieces. Better known as Rush, the Canadian power trio are set to release their 20th studio album on June 12th. Entitled Clockwork Angels, it is the bands’ first new material since 2007’s Snakes & Arrows. While two tracks (Caravan and BU2B) were made available for digital download all the way back in June of 2010, the band has just released the seven minute track Headlong Flight to radio.

From thunderous drums and massive low end bass bombs to Geddy Lee’s trademark vocals, the track feels like vintage Rush while doing a superb job of not becoming a parody of themselves. Especially impressive are the rich tones found within Lifeson’s guitar parts. To check out Headlong Flight for yourself, head over to Rolling Stone for the stream.

Rush is expected to announce details for a massive world tour in support of Clockwork Angels within the next few weeks. To pre-order the album, click here. While it is still too early to tell, chances are that in 2013 the band will once again be criminally overlooked for induction to the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
