It has been a few years since we have heard new music from the Toadies. Best known for their 1996 smash hit Possum Kingdom; the band is set to release their 5th full length record on July 31st. The album will be called PLAY.ROCK.MUSIC and it will be the bands’ second release on Kirtland Records. Earlier today the albums’ first single Summer Of The Strange officially* debuted on Consequence Of Sound. You can check it out down below.
To celebrate the release of PLAY.ROCK.MUSIC the Toadies will hit the road this summer for a co-headline tour with Helmet. While dates for the trek have yet to be released, Toadies front man Vaden Todd Lewis made the following comments about the fan reactions to the new material as well as the upcoming shows with Page Hamilton and friends.
“Really looking forward to all the touring we’ve got coming up. It’s been fun playing the new material and getting feedback. People seem to be liking this stuff a lot – especially Rattler’s Revival and Summer Of The Strange. …And we’re all very stoked to be going out on tour with Helmet. That tour will definitely crush.”
The band has just finished shooting a video for Summer Of The Strange and have promised that it will feature “Titties, Guns, Food Abuse and a Chainsaw.” You can now purchase Summer Of The Strange for yourself via iTunes.
* Unofficially, the song first hit YouTube, set to this scene from the movie Gummo. Which actually made for kind of a cool video.
