For fans of Phish and their front man Trey Anastasio the third time is the charm for the song Let Me Lie. Not only did Anastasio release the song on his 2006 studio album Bar 17, Phish released it on the limited edition release Party Time. While both versions arguably left something to be desired, the song’s latest incarnation is anything but a disappointment.
With the mindset of using the studio as an instrument, Anastasio has re-recorded Let Me Lie for his upcoming studio effort Traveler. Having teamed with producer Peter Katis (The National, Interpol) Anastasio has put himself into a radically different mindset for Traveler. In the press release for his upcoming solo effort, Anastasio mentions that he wanted to create a ‘sonic landscape’ and with Let Me Lie he has done exactly that. The song debuted earlier today on Diffuser and you can check it out for yourself:
Traveler will hit shelves on October 16th. Anastasio will hit the road with a brief solo tour in support of the album. Tickets are on sale now, with numerous nights having already sold out.
