Stream The Latest From The Flaming Lips ‘Playing Hide and Seek with the Ghosts of Dawn ‘

The Flaming Lips, Music

Once again The Flaming Lips have decided to cover a classic rock album from front to back.

Back in 2009, Oklahoma’s greatest musical export teamed with the likes of Stardeath and White Dwarfs, Peaches and Henry Rollins for a remake of the 1973 Pink Floyd classic Dark Side of the Moon. This time out with the help of New Fumes, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, Linear Downfall, and Spaceface the band will be remaking King Crimson’s debut album In the Court of the Crimson King.

The Flaming Lips are calling their release Playing Hide and Seek with the Ghosts of Dawn and according to CoS it is available on vinyl at Good Records in Dallas Texas. Thankfully for those outside Dallas, you can stream the release by heading over to the Flaming Lips online station Satellite Heart Radio. You can also stream Moonchild from the album down below.

Meanwhile, On The Internet...

  1. chops says:

The Flaming Lips’ DSotM sucked an unfathomable amount of dong.

  2. reality says:

nice. another flash from these publicity cunts.

  3. Future Heart says:

Although this album was Wayne Coyne project, this is NOT a Flaming Lips album. The Lips are only on one track, though they (specifically Wayne) are involved in a lot of other ways. I’ve been following the making of this album since last spring and have detailed it all at (in fact, Consequence of Sound article this post was copied from took its info from my post, though apparently this has turned into a game of “telephone” with the details getting jumbled along the way).

There’s also a “making of the album” video at that link that shows the bands recording with Wayne etc.

If you are not already familiar with New Fumes, Stardeath and White Dwarfs, Linear Downfall or Spaceface now’s the time to discover their awesome shades of contemprary psych.

There’s pictures of the multi-color vinyl and from the tour at
