Mickey Melchiondo, better known as Dean Ween is back to making new music roughly a year after Aaron Freeman broke up Ween. Moistboyz, formed in 1991,features the two key cogs Melchiondo along with vocalist Guy Heller taking on alias’s “Micky Moist” and “Dickie Moist” respectively. They’ve released four albums over the span of the past 20 years along with a DVD, Live Jihad in 2006. In past years, the band had worked around the schedule of Ween.
Today if you made your way to your local record store for Record Store Day, a new Moistboyz single was available for purchase on vinyl. The song is called Paperboy, and music video takes queue from the 80s video game of the same name. The band is said to be working on an entire album of new material, titled Moistboyz V Medusa, tentatively due out this summer. The track features lyrics discussing shooting a dog in the head (silently), hermaphrodites , “porch monkeys” and wishing that a paperboy was dead. Trippy, video game-like guitar riffs are steady throughout the track while you question the reasoning for you to ever own a video game that is just a kid on a bike delivering newspapers.
Hat Tip to Hidden Track with the heads up.
