Very very soon, we’re going to announce the details of our next movie night at the Viper Room in Los Angeles, our favorite dirty little bar in dirty little Hollywood, in this dirty little small world. In the meantime, we wanted to share this with you.
Fallout Entertainment is trying to make a documentary about the Viper, called Friends Of The Viper Room, and they need all the help they can get with their Kickstarter campaign. Fallout is home of Bill Fishman, director of Tapeheads, who did us the honor of introducing the movie when it was our only choice for our first movie night at the Viper back in April.
All of this connectivity is sheer coincidence, but that’s just the kind of place the Viper has always been. It was opened by Johnny Depp, who wanted an intimate, special place to hang out, a hub of friendliness in the middle of the entertainment capital of the world. To this day, the place seethes with that legacy and plenty of history picked up along the way.
The documentary is being directed by our friend Olivia Barash, who is currently conducting interviews with everyone from Dave Grohl, Masters Of Reality and Tom Waits to Drew Barrymore, Depp, and Christina Applegate, who (along with Adam Duritz of the Counting Crows), has Viper Room bartender on her resumé.
Full details and intro video can be viewed on the Kickstarter page.
The release of the movie will be tied in with a special reunion concert, featuring many A-list acts who got their start there, returning for a once-in-a-lifetime performance.
The Kickstarter has 8 days left, and needs a bit more funding. Packages go all the way up to dinner with the filmmakers and Executive Producer credit.
