Britain’s Independent Label Market is about to get even cooler and a bit more altruistic. The vinyl version of a farmer’s market will offer ten exclusive records that benefit Oxfam’s Syria Appeal. In addition to worsening weather conditions, including an exceptionally cold winter, the country’s volatile state of utter disarray has brought Syria’s refugee population to well over 1.6 million people. Oxfam aims to provide Syrian refugees with food and shelter through their Appeal.
Perennial all-stars ranging from Damon Albarn and Flea to newcomers Charli XCX and Django Django have all thrown their musical hats into the ring to help the cause. The limited edition 12″s will be sold this Saturday, July 13 at Old Spitalfields in London. Judging by the track list, there’s a little bit of everything in there for audiophiles and casual listeners alike. Around fifty copies of each track will be available. Miss your chance to get in on the Independent Label Market action? There’s always the live eBay auction, which ends Sunday, July 14th.
