The newly resurrected Nine Inch Nails continued their recent festival run last Sunday night at South Korea’s Ansan Valley Festival, and, as expected, the band debuted yet another track from the upcoming LP Hesitation Marks.
Listen to Disappointed below, at the 5:40 mark, as it immediately follows the set opener Copy of A:
While it is still difficult to discern the what the overall sound of Hestiation Marks will be, the three new tracks as well as Came Back Haunted point to a more minimalistic approach taken by Trent Reznor in this new effort, with older themes explored further and older sounds subtly restructured. It is a somewhat understated reinvention for an artist like Reznor who, until now, has been greatly revered for his more dramatic shifts from sound to sound. But this is only a handful of songs in, of course, and the rest of the LP can change things drastically.
