A tactic that was rumored earlier this year, a Reddit post seems to have declared that the Foo Fighters have recorded songs for the follow-up to 2011’s excellent Wasting Light at Inner Ear Studios in Washington D.C., Electrical Audio Studios in Chicago with In Utero producer Steve Albini, and in Los Angeles at Butch Vig’s Studio 606. This news seems to be consistent with January’s tweet from user FooArchive.com which included an excerpt from Billboard magazine stating that Dave Grohl was scouting out studios nationwide for the band’s eighth studio effort.
In an interview with Rolling Stone, Dave Grohl claimed that the album was recorded in “a way that no-one’s ever done before.” Different? Sure. Necessary? Absolutely not. That being said, we’re definitely excited to hear what Grohl & Co. have in store for the as-yet-untitled LP8.
The Foos recently performed aboard the USS Intrepid in New York’s Hudson River as part of the Super Bowl celebration. Check out 45 minutes of their set here.
