Every once in a while, we come across music that excites our sensibilities in a truly feral fashion. Bridge Farmers is a 4-piece band from Austin that sounds something like I imagine a caged Cerberus trying to chew its way free of the medieval irons holding it prisoner to the dusty Texan earth would sound.
Weaving influences from all points across the spectrum of progressive rock, doom, psych, grunge, and math rock, Din Of Celestial Birds is the definition of a majestic metal monsterpiece. With just 6 songs, it leaves you salivating for more. There are meaty stoner psych riffs, a Beatles-esque oasis of a ballad offering sonic reprieve, some needling Melvin’s prog metal, insane Blood Brothers-style frenzies, and a winding up at a cacophonous crescendo of screaming guitars. It is an enviable array of ass-kicking on display here.
We seriously can’t wait to hear what will come next from Bridge Farmers’ and their wild, unholy creativity. Din Of Celestial Birds is from 2010 and is the only record available online. So it sounds like they are due for some new material any time now. In the meantime, stream their 2010 album here and make sure to grab yourself a copy and blast the living hell out of it.
