Cedric & Omar From The Mars Volta Reunite as Antemasque

Antemasque, Music, Studio Reports

It’s not exactly a Mars Volta reunion, but Cedric Bixler-Zavala and Omar Rodríguez-López are making music together again, as a new group called Antemasque.

This video was posted to ESPN (of all places), apparently a rehearsal video from the new band, rounded out by drummer Dave Elitch, and none other than Flea on bass. It might not be martian butt noise.

UPDATE: Here’s another video, featuring the recording of debut track 4AM:

A couple of short trailers for the project were also posted online:

Sound cool and all but I’m still waiting for Zavalaz!

  3. Jeff says:

I don’t know, hopefully Cedric will maybe say “hey Omar this side shit is fun and all but how about we start making some groundbreaking music again like we used to doing Mars Volta”. I guess I can dream can’t I?

Omar had his day and dumped on Cedric on the way out. Cedric must really need $ to play with Omar the dirt-bag.
