Four years and countless spins of Black Sabbath later, the Budos Band have a new album ready to go. To be realesed October 21st on Daptone Records, Burnt Offering looks to be the furthest step yet from the band’s afro-funk beginnings. From drummer Brian Profilio,
This isn’t The Budos Band IV, this isn’t just more of the same. We made a conscious decision to embark on a new sound, this record is fuzzy, buzzy and raw, and more obviously psychedelic.
While their brand of instrumental funk is still readily apparent (first single “The Sticks” starts out with a sample-ready drum break and heavy groove), the buzz saw fuzz-guitars and guttural horn section looming just overhead signal a more adventurous approach. Check it out below:
