Last year, we saw the likes of Nirvana, KISS, Peter Gabriel, Hall and Oates, Cat Stevens and Linda Ronstadt all inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame. Hell, we were even there. It’s that time of year again, and the nominees for the R&RHOF’s Class of 2015 have been released, including Green Day, Nine Inch Nails, and The Smiths. As the rule states, in order to be elligible for nomination, each artist must have released their first single or album in 1989 or earlier. Check out the full list of nominees below.
Nine Inch Nails
Paul Butterfield Blues Band
Joan Jett & the Blackhearts
Stevie Ray Vaughan
While many other nominees, such as Joan Jett and N.W.A., have appeared on previous ballots, Green Day and Nine Inch Nails are in their first year of eligibility for nomination, with both acts releasing their first records in 1989 (Green Day’s 1,000 Hours in April 1989 and NIN’s Pretty Hate Machine in October 1989). Lou Reed has previously been inducted as a member of the Velvet Underground and Sting as a member of The Police.
You can vote for your favorite artists over at RollingStone until December 9th and try to attend the induction ceremony in Cleveland on April 18th, 2015. We’ll certainly be trying to attend.
