Bosnian Rainbows staged a unique Los Angeles debut Tuesday night, positioned on the First Unitarian Church’s sanctuary, before an all-seated audience. After a wildly energetic opening set by Sacramento-based quartet Sister Crayon, The Omar Rodríguez-López group’s newest evolutionary step performed their entire debut LP, from start to finish in perfectly surreal and unique setting.
Manic frontwoman Teri Gender Bender first captured our attention as the star of Le Butcherettes, and is proving to be the perfect keystone for this more artistically mature group of musicians, including Deantoni Parks and Nick Kaspar, as well as Rodríguez-López, of course, of Mars Volta fame. Bosnian Rainbows’ tour is now officially underway. A surprise show has been added tonight at Los Globos, followed by dates across the country. Attendance is recommended.
