We’ve been following Nine Inch Nails / Marilyn Manson producer Sean Beavan’s band 8mm for quite awhile now. They were one of our earliest interviews, and a talk I had with Sean about 24-bit audio for Antiquiet University is certainly our longest. Also, they headlined our Valentine’s Day party in LA in 2009, which was a smashing success.
Recently, I had the pleasure of hearing their new album, Between The Devil And Two Black Hearts, in Sean’s studio, and I was rather floored; it’s a dramatic developmental jump for the band artistically, and it’s one of the coolest little sexy-blues-rock albums I’ve heard since Isobel Campbell and Mark Lanegan’s Hawk.
One of my favorite tracks is Weight Of You, which is one of three tracks the band has posted to their Kickstarter hub for the album’s release:
There are two other songs to be found on Kickstarter, Kin and Around The Sun, so head there to check them out. While there, you may feel so compelled to back the campaign, which hopes to fund a proper tour, and physical release (that’s what she said), and some marketing to help get the word out. High-end pledge bonuses include acoustic sessions at your house, and even personal production services by Sean Beavan for your band.
The album is due out in September. The 15th, I believe.
P.S. The band’s lovely frontwoman Juliette put together a sexy little video mixtape of naked time songs for Antiquiet back in February, if it’s getting hot wherever you are anytime soon.
