While often categorized as a jam band, Umphrey’s McGee has spent the past 15 years building up a rabid fan base with their unique spin on progressive rock music. While it is easy to lump the band in with the likes of the Grateful Dead and Phish due to their use of multi-set shows that feature a different set list each night, the fact is Umphrey’s McGee’s music rocks far harder than their hippie forefathers.
One great thing about Umphrey’s McGee is that they have never been afraid to show their love of heavy music via the ever popular cover. From Tool to Rage Against The Machine the six piece from Illinois loves to push their audiences senses to the limits. Earlier this week the band closed out 2012 with an extended run at the Tabernacle in Atlanta Georgia. During the show on the 29th, the band covered the Nine Inch Nails classic Wish and as you can see below they do a mighty fine job.
Umphrey’s McGee will return to the road on the 16th of this month in Buffalo New York. For all dates, check out their official website.
