This is turning out to be a good week for fake/parody songs. A few days ago, a somewhat convincing David Bowie impersonator covered Joy Division’s Love Will Tear Us Apart and put it up online, complete with a backstory. Of course, it was immediately called out. What we have here today is only marginally more convincing, and obviously just as fake, but much more hilarious of an accomplishment.
Heading to the website RHCP2014, one is presented with an ad-polluted page promoting Red Hot Chili Peppers‘ performance at this year’s Super Bowl, and a song called Abracadabralifornia starts auto-playing. And it’s absolutely ridiculous. It takes all of RHCP’s horrible cliches and mashes them into a single magnum opus of cheesiness, making people wonder how this band got so big in the first place. We won’t spoil any surprises by posting lyrics here, so just go ahead and listen to the song.
As Crave Online reports, the track comes from Hot Karate frontman Cyrus Ghahremani, and The Kroll Show‘s Jon Daly. Hats off to them.
