It’s been a busy year for Clutch. But then, every year is busy for Maryland’s finest road band. In a recent interview with Lithium Magazine at Riot Fest in Toronto, frontman Neil Fallon revealed that after their current tour wraps up the group plans to spend the rest of the year in pre-production for their next record. Then, they’ll do the usual post-Christmas tour and heading back into the studio with producer Machine to track the record. The band’s last release, Earth Rocker, came out last year on the band’s own label and recently got a 3-disc special edition rerelease.
Regarding the new record’s sound, the singer said “If you tried to make Earth Rocker 2, it would be…. D.O.A. But then again, you don’t want to completely abandon it.” New songs from the band have been performed already, but Fallon insists that these are not representative of what the final product will be like, and considering that the group still has months of production ahead of it it’s easy to see where he’s coming from on this.
