Atlanta punk crushers Injected return today after 15 years without a release, tearing open the gates of hell on Truth About You the lead single and title track to their upcoming record of the same name – exclusively premiered today on Antiquiet.
Arriving June 2nd on Slush Fund, The Truth About You was produced by Kyle Spence (Harvey Milk, Kurt Vile, J. Mascis), who also played drums on album. Injected band member Jade Lemons, who passed away last year, also contributes guitar.
The track is a galloping rocker with grit, strut and a squealing solo that flexes just the kind of attitude and fire we need to begin filling the freshly-blasted void of Cornell’s absence. He can never be replaced, replicated or diminished. But we can rock our screaming fucking asses off in the name of survival, perseverance and pure rock fury – and that’s exactly what you’ll find from Injected’s long-awaited return.
Listen for yourself, exclusively on AQ:
In 1996, Injected released their debut, Hammered & Enamored, a metal EP that set the foundation for what was to come. Five years later, Island Def Jam released Burn It Black, their hard rock debut LP. With single “Faithless” making the rounds on MTV, the track quickly became a Top 40 hit. They toured with stoner-rock pioneers Fu Manchu, contributed songs to Spiderman and other movie soundtracks, and co-headlined the MTV Campus Invasion Tour to tens of thousands a night.
Legend has it that on the last night of that tour, guitarist Jade Lemons took Alice in Chains’ guitarist Jerry Cantrell up on a dare by streaking Nickelback frontman Chad Kroeger off of the stage in Kansas City, Missouri. The label didn’t get the joke, dropping the band and throwing their trajectory into turmoil.
Only after Lemons’ death last year did frontman Danny Grady decide to release The Truth About You, easily the most reflective album Grady has written. With refreshing in-your-face production and almost a live feel, The Truth About You fifteen years later, is a perfect follow up to Burn It Black.
Stay tuned for more from Injected.
