Alleviation from pressure cooker quarantine life comes from the strangest of places today. Jordan Cook aka Reignwolf, the man who made us wait damn near a decade for a proper Reignwolf album, put together one of the greatest songs of his life while holed up alone at home.
“The garage is this place where we take things in our own hands,” he told Billboard. “I had never set up the garage the way I would set up for a show, but I felt like I was tricking myself for a moment because I couldn’t perform in front of fans. I was feeling a lot of tension and unease. It’s very difficult when you’re told you can experience the world outside of your home. I’m used to seeing my friends. I’m used to seeing my family and I’m in this house alone. That’s why this video feels so intense — if I can’t give you a Reignwolf show, Im doing to do everything i can to give you the next best thing.”

The video was produced, filmed and edited by friend Stephen Hunt.
I first fell under the Reignwolf spell in 2012 while tripping my balls off on mushrooms, in a tiny club after Austin City Limits. The night was the kind of chaotic bliss no PR team could ever strategize: “Stumbling through the instrumental apocalypse and flipping drum equipment to find something to beat on, Jordan played the lead with one hand while beating a corner-balanced drum with the other, before turning the drumstick on the guitar itself.”
One moment coyly creeping to the mic and the next a raw fit of gnashing teeth, spinejacking howls and a blur of flying hair, Cook’s ferocity and fifth-gear intensity is the kind of energy most of us would give a limb to experience these days, as we fight the most intense cabin fever of our collective lifetimes. Tearing around the stage in a fit of guitar-driven mania, occasionally pounding a beat with a kick drum as he shreds and wails, Jordan delivers an irresistible conversion sermon of pure Rock fury.
With cancelled/postponed tour dates initially set to kick off in April, Reignwolf fans now have a new anthem to look forward to seeing live… someday.
