To the mild surprise of everyone, California hip-hop trio Death Grips announced a world tour this week. We say “mild” surprise because this is an outfit whose future actions have always been a tad on the unpredictable side. Also there’s the small matter of them breaking up last year and making Trent Reznor look quite the fool for booking them as the openers on the NIN/Soundgarden tour. Little things. No-showing big festivals, smaller shows, erect penises as album covers and enraged fans are just par for the course at this point so nothing should really come as a shock.
If the tour actually happens (there’s a Ticketmaster page and everything, you guys) then it actually looks to be quite the expansive one, with shows all across the USA and Canada in the months of June and July, and the promise of more shows to be announced in Sacramento, Los Angeles, and “various international locations.” In spite of their insanity, Death Grips actually are a Hell of a musical act, so it might be worth your time to see if you can actually get in.
