A while back we told you that High On Fire have a new album coming out next month. We’re now a little closer to the album’s release, and to coincide with it’s impending descent on the world at large, a group that basically lives on the road not only released a new song from the record but also announced both European and North American headlining tours to support it. The Black Plot premiered on Rolling Stone’s website this week, giving anyone who hasn’t had the chance to hear the band perform the song live a shot at the brand-new studio version:
According to guitarist and vocalist Matt Pike, the song is about “aliens abducting people and manipulating our past, present, and future.” And also about “alien hybrids, and how we’ve been immersed in this culture of ETs for thousands of years.” Pike also claims to believe that aliens constructed the pyramids, and that they’ve been having sex with human women for as long as the two sides have been in contact. The frontman has contended that he was “99% sober during the recording of the album, except for pot.” You can believe him after reading all that, if you want.
The full album is due out on June 23rd.
