One thing that makes Austin’s Fun Fun Fun Fest so special is their knack for picking a good crop of bands to fill their stages, as we told you this summer. Attendees don’t have to worry about suffering through a handful to Top 40 hopefuls all weekend just to spot one of their favorite bands. Instead, the festival organizes each stage by genre while providing additional entertainment in the form of a comedy stage and even a Ride & Skate scene. And, of course, FFF is the home of the original Taco Cannon. Don’t forget it.
So what are they doing to top all of that for their 10th anniversary? Giving the people what they asked for, for starters. Many FFF attendees tend to purchase their passes after the October ship date which used to mean long lines at the box office on the festival grounds. To combat this headache, the festival wised up. They’ve created the Funderdome, a three week pre-festival experience tailored to not only streamline the pick-up process, but also one that will provide nightly entertainment. FFF will also utilize their Funderdome location to help facilitate shuttles during the festival – because let’s face it, Austin may be a cozy home for music but it sure isn’t good on parking.
And while we’re on official business, FFF also announced their schedule this morning. Accessible both on the festival’s website and mobile app (via Apple and Android), the schedule is as normal as they come – with one exception. You can access set times by day and stage, sure, but you can now see the full rundown on FFF’s Nites shows. That’s right! In addition to festival entry, your wristband grants free access to post-fest shows for 100+ bands around Austin, starting on the 5th.
So listen up!
We at Antiquiet personally like what Fun Fun Fun Fest is about. They do things their own way and really listen to the people, so we want to do something similar. Instead of popping in, covering the major headliners, telling you how crowded it was, and commenting on the food, we want to hear what you want to hear. Let us know who you’re most interested in hearing about and we’ll follow through.
Seriously, TELL US.
FFF passes are on sale now with 3-day, single day, and Ultimate Smooth Pass options which will all be available for pick-up at the Funderdome. See you soon.
