Just over two years ago, Failure performed their long-awaited reunion concert at the El Rey in Los Angeles. Their first gig in 16 years, it marked the beginning of a successful comeback tour that went on to feature the release of their fantastic LP The Heart Is a Monster – our 2015 album of the year, no less. Now, with band member Greg Edwards probably focusing on the new release from his other project Autolux, it’s fitting that Failure fans would get a nice, digital memento of the band’s reunion.
Earlier today, the band took to Facebook to announce the release of their El Rey gig, in full, on YouTube, stating “This is what started it all… again. We’ve been sitting with this for a while, trying to decide when would be the right time to share it with all of you. We guess that time is right now.” The video, edited by Dave Boccuzzi, contains their entire, 90-minute performance, featuring pro-shot footage provided by the band themselves, along with audience-shot videos which were already featured in a similar edit. To top it all off, Failure’s own Ken Andrews mixed the audio source, so it doesn’t get much better than this.
While we seriously expect to see more Failure in the future, this will do, for now.
