After spending all of 2014 recording new music, Duran Duran has officially signed with Warner Bros. Records and set a September release for their 14th studio LP.
The album, produced by Mr Hudson, Mark Ronson (who produced the group’s last stellar outing, All You Need Is Now) and longtime friend of the group Nile Rodgers. The album is set to have a string of guest appearances, with rising star Keisza joining for a track, Mr. John Frusciante joining for one (which we told you about almost a year ago), and Antiquiet-favorite Janelle Monae, who has been announced as the featured artist on the album’s first single Pressure Off. No date has been announced for the single release yet, but hopefully we can expect it soon. Please.
The pairing up of Nile Rodgers and Mark Ronson here on the production side can only be a good thing. Duran Duran’s last LP was an incredible effort by the band, one which tied together their instantly recognizable sound while keeping it fresh enough to excite fans and newcomers. Nile Rodgers is responsible for some of the band’s biggest hits — The Wild Boys, The Reflex — which is sure to excite longtime fans of the band.
“We could not be happier to be making this deal with Warner Bros., and are looking forward to working on our forthcoming album release with not only their US team but also everyone else within the Warner family around the world,” said bassist John Taylor. “We are also excited that this deal means we will be reunited with our catalogue after years apart – and in that sense it really feels a little like coming home.”
Head on over to Duran Duran’s website to see what else is going on with the band these days. Maybe we will get some tour dates soon.
