AQ is proud to present the first installment of Antiquiet Sessions, featuring a collection of intimate performances by artists we believe in. Each month we’ll bring you a new session episode – for April, we’re kicking off with Los Angeles Rock heroes Dead Sara, a band that recently obliterated SXSW and is looking to own 2012 with a new album and a triple-headed marathon tour.
The quartet rolled through Swing House Studios in Los Angeles recently, prior to the release of their tremendously good debut album, to kick off our new feature series and drop a dose of what’s keeping this group locked at the top of Antiquiet’s list of bands to keep an eye on this year.
Driven by Siouxsie Medley’s searing guitar riffs and Emily Armstrong’s high-octane vocals, the band, which also includes bassist Chris Null and drummer Sean Friday, will be releasing their hotly anticipated full-length LP (produced by Noah Shain) on April 10th.
Exclusively on Antiquiet, we present Dead Sara acoustic sessions. First up is Test on My Patience, from the upcoming self-titled release.
Check out a fantastic stripped rendition of the new album’s debut single Weatherman, a song that’s become something of a signature jam for the band – particularly in live performance, where “Go for the kill!” has become a singalong staple.
Lastly, the band delivered a gorgeously downtempo take on Nirvana’s classic Incesticide track Sliver. Armstrong takes the vocal to new, delicately powerful heights on the fan-favorite cover.
