Following a lengthy gestation in the mind and veins of frontwoman Allyson Baker, Dirty Ghosts have arrived with their debut LP Metal Moon, recently recorded and released on Last Gang Records after more than five years of making music.
The San Francisco outfit’s jutting attitude-blues Rock – led by Baker’s lip-curled punch on mic and guitar and supported by bassist Erin McDermott, drummer Ben Tuttle, and Nick Andre – is a patchwork of punk roots, new wave, Aesop Rock-influenced beatcrafting and dark-leaning 70s-Rock undertones that push the band’s canvas boundaries beyond a singular defining sound. Lead single Ropes That Way is an impossibly catchy jam with a spin of sex-strut attitude and fun, leading us into an album that explores a wide spectrum of punch-driven groove, embracing the dark and the light without losing the Rock.
After catching them rocking powerfully onstage at MFNW last year and again at SXSW this Spring, they’ve been locked on our radar – and now we’re proud to present Dirty Ghosts’ Antiquiet Session.

The final song, Battle Slang, is prefaced with a Professor Booty tease – the session was taped on the day of Beastie Boy Adam Yauch’s passing:
They band has already begun work on writing the next record, so we’ll have plenty more Dirty Ghosts to rock you with down the line – and with the collaborative chemistry in play this time, there’s no telling what new colors this Rock kaleidoscope will bring.
Keep up with Dirty Ghosts, order Metal Moon and more at their official site, on Facebook and Twitter.
