Late last month, we brought you a new track from LA’s 8mm, promising you wouldn’t be disappointed in the band’s new LP, Between The Devil And Two Black Hearts. Since then, they’ve met their Kickstarter goal and have been planning a full national tour, with designs for elegant physical release packages for the album. The timing of such a push into the hearts and ears of those currently unfamiliar with the band couldn’t be sweeter; With this album, be it through toil, a happy accident or a secret deal with the Morning Star, they have perfected their formula. And with this evolutionary leap, 8mm deserves our (and your) undivided attention.
We’ll save the ranting and raving for our review, and for now get to proudly presenting the latest installment of our exclusive Antiquiet Sessions series. 8mm has always been among the first bands to come to mind whenever we’ve needed a stroke of intimacy, a little darkness around the alluring edges in our musical palette. So it only makes sense that we’d align for something glorious with Juliette and Sean Beavan, when the timing was right. Now, with Between The Devil And Two Black Hearts finished and on the fast-approaching horizon, we decided to do it in their bedroom, at their lovely home in Laurel Canyon. You want intimacy? It doesn’t get much more intimate than filming this dynamic duo while lying on their bed.
It was loud, electric, and sweaty. And, of course, we filmed it. Enjoy.
