The Toadies are celebrating the 20th anniversary of the release of their massively massive debut Rubberneck this year, with a vinyl reissue and tour dates laid out through May 17th. When they rolled through LA on the first leg, we had the honor of welcoming them into Swing House for a very special acoustic Antiquiet Session:
The band performed songs from Rubberneck, and a couple of others. After getting through all of the crazy SXSW stuff, it was so great to get back to the pure essence of these sessions; truly magical performances by the best bands we know. The Toadies continue to sell out venues everywhere they go, on the strength of their entire catalog, (somewhat) independent of Possum Kingdom playing on every radio three times a day. Whether you’re an AQ regular that hasn’t listened to Rubberneck since 1995, or a Toadies fan new to Antiquiet, or something in between, we’re delighted and proud to be able to bring you into the room for this unique performance.
By the way, we did a great interview with guitarist Clark Vogeler awhile back that still holds up, in which we discuss movies, and talk a lot of shit on Interscope and Jimmy Iovine, which I guess is something we do a lot of around here.
